Tech Professionals
About Tech Professionals
Founded in 2016 and based in Banbury, Oxfordshire, Tech Professionals is a specialist recruitment and workforce solutions business serving the offshore wind, subsea, oil and gas, and maritime sectors. The business supplies electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and subsea technicians and engineers on both contract and permanent bases, with around 500 personnel on assignment at any one time and annual revenues of approximately £50 million. Operating internationally across highly regulated, safety-critical environments, it has built a strong reputation for mobilisation speed, contractor compliance, and deep sector expertise.
The challenge
After a decade of building a business in some of the most technically demanding and compliance-intensive markets in the energy sector, the shareholders of Tech Professionals were ready to bring in a long-term investment partner. The priority was finding the right fit, an investor who understood the business, respected the culture and client relationships that underpinned its success, and had the conviction to support its continued growth without disrupting what already worked.
The transaction involved a business operating across multiple jurisdictions with complex payroll and contractor compliance obligations, requiring careful legal handling to ensure the deal completed cleanly and on the right terms.
The solution
K3 Law acted as legal adviser to the shareholders throughout the transaction, working alongside KBS Corporate who led the corporate finance process under Director Guy Haynes. The K3 Law team provided clear, commercially focused legal advice from heads of terms through to completion, guiding the shareholders through due diligence, warranties, and disclosure.
The investor, CKM3, an independent investment company founded by Colm McGinley with a focus on established, cash-generative businesses in essential service-led sectors, aligned well with the business’s operational strengths. K3 Law’s role was to protect the shareholders’ position whilst keeping the process moving efficiently to a clean close.
The outcome
The investment completed in September 2026. Tech Professionals continues to operate under its existing brand and management team, with CKM3 committed to supporting the business for the long term.
Colm McGinley commented:
“What stood out to me throughout the process was the quality of the people, the strength of the company’s customer relationships and the reputation the team has built within these highly specialised markets. This acquisition represents an important milestone for CKM3 and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Tech Professionals.”
With strong sector tailwinds behind offshore wind and subsea cable, the business is well-positioned to scale from a solid foundation, and with the right partner in place to support that growth.
K3 Law is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The firm specialises in business sales, M&A, and investment deals for SME and mid-market businesses.
