K3 Law advises on sale of EDNX to Viatel Technology Group
News
K3 Law acted as legal adviser to the shareholders of EDNX on the sale of the business to Viatel Technology Group, a Dublin-headquartered provider of managed security, networking, cloud and communications services with close to 30 years of experience. The deal was announced on 1 September 2026 and advised on the corporate side by Jacob Lord, Associate Director at KBS Corporate.
The business
Incorporated in 2017 and based in Combermere, Shropshire, EDNX is an IT consultancy firm specialising in enterprise networking and network infrastructure. Its technical expertise spans campus networks, Secure IoT, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, SD-Access, and application-centric infrastructure, with a client base concentrated in finance, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and other regulated sectors, including NHS Trusts and leading pharmaceutical companies. EDNX holds Cisco Premier Partner status, reflecting the depth of its technical credentials.
Finding the right buyer
KBS Corporate was engaged to identify a buyer capable of preserving EDNX’s technical culture while providing the scale and resources to support its next chapter. The deal was led by Jacob Lord, Associate Director at KBS Corporate, with Elliot Wilkes, Senior Research Analyst, credited with sourcing Viatel as the acquirer. K3 Law provided legal advice to the shareholders throughout the transaction.
A natural strategic fit
Viatel is Ireland’s largest secure network provider and itself a Cisco Premier Partner, making the combination of the two businesses a natural one. The acquisition significantly strengthens Viatel’s capability in highly regulated, compliance-intensive environments, and accelerates its expansion across the UK market. The deal follows Viatel’s acquisition of Scottish cybersecurity specialist FullProxy in July 2026, reflecting the group’s clear ambition to build out its UK and enterprise capabilities at pace.
David Ratcliffe, CEO of EDNX, said:
“Joining Viatel gives our customers access to broader capabilities while preserving the technical excellence and customer focus that have defined EDNX. We see strong alignment in our cultures, ambitions and long-term commitment to customer success.”
Paul Rellis, CEO of Viatel, said:
“EDNX brings exceptional expertise and a strong track record of delivering enterprise networking solutions in some of the most demanding environments. Their technical capability complements our existing strengths in connectivity, cybersecurity and managed services, while creating new opportunities to bring advanced networking services to our customers. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the EDNX team, customers and partners. Together, we are creating an even stronger business for our customers and our people.”
Completing the transaction
Jacob Lord of KBS Corporate said:
“I’m delighted to have successfully advised on this transaction and supported our clients in achieving their goals. From the outset, it was clear that all parties were motivated in achieving a positive outcome, which enabled the deal to progress efficiently and collaboratively. The strong engagement, professionalism and responsiveness shown throughout the process were key factors in delivering a successful transaction within the desired timeframe.”
